BSPF joins the International Photography Festivals Association (IPFA)
The Brussels Street Photography Festival (BSPF) is pleased to announce its official membership in the International Photography Festivals Association (IPFA) — a new global network of photography festivals, cultural organizations, and professionals dedicated to strengthening the international photography ecosystem through collaboration, transparency, and shared values.
Unique collaboration
Established during the first international meeting in Barcelona in July 2025, the IPFA already brings together over 40 festivals worldwide and aims to address the evolving challenges and opportunities facing photography festivals today.
“We are honored to be part of the IPFA and excited to contribute to its collaborative spirit. Joining this association reflects our long-standing belief in the power of photography as a global language — one that transcends borders, cultures, and ideologies,” said Sigrid Debusschere, Coordinator of BSPF.
Through this membership, BSPF will:
• Join international dialogues on best practices in festival programming, accessibility, sustainability, and curatorial ethics.
• Participate in IPFA’s annual meetings and forums, fostering new opportunities for exchange and professional growth.
• Contribute to artist visibility and mobility through initiatives like the IPFA Artist Repository and cross-festival collaborations.
• Engage with IPFA’s global reports and research, helping shape a more equitable and sustainable photography festival landscape.
BSPF Membership
"We are delighted to welcome the Brussels Street Photography Festival to IPFA. Having Belgium and Brussels — a European hub for culture, diversity, and international dialogue — join the first global association of photography festivals not only strengthens our mission to connect voices and perspectives from all over the world but also opens new bridges of collaboration between Europe and the international photography community”, says Pablo Giori, director of IPFA. “Their participation reinforces our shared belief that photography festivals can only thrive through transparency, cooperation, and the exchange of knowledge across borders. Our vision of strengthening the role of photography festivals in society is now one step closer to becoming a reality."
The BSPF is internationally recognized for its dedication to street photography as both an art form and a tool for social reflection. Since its founding, BSPF has provided a dynamic platform for emerging and established photographers and the public to explore the role of street photography in contemporary society.
“As a festival rooted in one of Europe’s most diverse capitals, we’re excited to connect with like-minded festivals around the world who are equally committed to fostering inclusion, artistic excellence, and critical discourse,” added Sigrid Debusschere.
