A rare chance to learn from Julia Coddington, a prominent Australian photographer celebrated for her layered style — images that are dense, complex, and full of life. The day focuses on pushing past the fear factor of street photography: how to move through crowds with confidence and get close enough to capture intimate, genuine moments rather than just observing from a distance.

Beyond philosophy, you'll cover composition, storytelling, and the use of light. A highlight is the practical session at the Zinneke Parade — a vibrant, motor-free celebration that provides an ideal backdrop for testing Julia's layering techniques in real time.

Welcoming photographers of all levels, including those who want to experiment with flash (prior flash experience required). Expect a fast-paced day of shooting alongside like-minded creatives.

Julia Coddington is an Australian photographer specialising in street and documentary photography. With an ability to become invisible within a scene, she captures intimate, unguarded moments that reveal the fascinating diversity of human behaviour, emotion, and connection - seeking to capture the joy in humanity and experiencing joy through the photographic process in return.

As co-founder of the Unexposed Collective, administrator of @womeninstreet, and member of the Little Box Collective, Julia champions diverse voices in contemporary street photography. She has judged competitions at major international photography festivals, exhibited world-wide and curated several exhibitions in Australia and internationally.

Julia shares her expertise through street photography workshops and adventures internationally and in Australia, establishing herself as a sought-after mentor in the field.
