Questions

If you have any further questions, please send an e-mail to Sigrid Debusschere via sigrid@bspfestival.org.

Moving from single images to series can be an intimidating and confusing process. Which are the criteria for choosing the images that will make up a series? Is it possible to do it objectively? How to set the order of each once selected?

In this two-day practical and theoretical workshop we will not only answer these questions, but will also review some specific examples that will help you visualize this process clearly. After the sessions you'll have the tools to establish your own methodology to get the best of your work and build powerful photographic series.

If you are a photographer —amateur or professional— with experience in street photography and want to jump from individual images to the construction of more complex narratives through photographic series, this workshop is absolutely for you.

The final selected series of each participant will be shown during the festival weekend.

*Editing: Selecting the final frames that will conform a series, an exhibition, a book, etc. Sometimes the term editing is used to refer to post-production or processing, which is the stage whereby images are adjusted in terms of color, contrast, saturation, etc.

About Sandra Hernández

Sandra Hernández is a Mexican-Canadian photographer and a Fujifilm ambassador (X-Photographer) based in Mexico. With a prolific career in architecture before pursuing photography, Sandra focuses on urban life, such as humanity’s relationship to the environment and the narratives that arise between them. Her passion for these themes has fueled accomplishments such as creating the first book focusing on street photography in Mexico’s history, Antología de fotografía de calle mexicana. She’s also founder of Urban Observers: a platform dedicated to spreading and promoting Latin American street photography. She was a member of Women Street Photographers, WomenPhotograph, pro member of The Raw Society and last year she was selected for the class of 2023 of The Eddie Adams Workshop.

Sandra’s work, both photographs and text, has been published and featured locally and internationally in outlets such as Forbes, La Vanguardia, Cuartoscuro, France’s TV78, Eyeshot Magazine, and Revue Épic. She’s also participated in various solo and group exhibitions on four continents and has received awards and honorable mentions in global photography competitions. Since 2017, Sandra has been the official photographer for Mexico’s legendary Carrera Panamericana rally.
